Facts about the corps for all you non Aggies out there :D
A&M corps produces more commisioned officers than any school in the nation (besides the service acadimes of course).
The A&M corps has produced over 225 generals in the United States Military.
The A&M corps has produced seven Medal of Honor winners.
Well over half of the members of the A&M corps have graduated with a commision and gone on to serve our country.
So no, it is not just dress up and pretend like all you uninformed people seem to think. :D
In WWII 20,229 A&M graduates served in the military. Of those, 14,123 were commisioned officers (more than the combined total of the U.S service Academys).
So when us Aggies ask our ancestors what they did in the great war, they wont have to tell us that they were shouveling s**t Lousiana.

Dearest Jim Rome, and you who posted this piece of trash:

I am disgusted to say that I did read this entire post. Disgusted with myself, because it is a one-sided self-proclaimed "rant" from a hypocritical man who claims that UT doesn't complain about Texas A&M. Quick reality check- try proofreading your work before you make a claim like that. I was disgusted with you, because you are an ignorant jerk with a blog, who thinks that your opinion counts a whole lot more than it does.

Yes, the Texas legislature did commission UT to be The University of Texas. Congratulations, you can google stuff. Awesome for you, dude. Texas A&M has never claimed that to be false. However, the fact remains that Texas A&M was in existence first. If you'd like to dispute that, you are sorely mistaken to do so. A&M was there first, and that's that.

As for the Corps, I cannot believe you would dare to compare an entire group to the misguided actions of a few. You can say that about quite literally every organization of people in history. Perhaps an anthropology class would have helped you with that. How about the Duke Lacrosse team's little foray into rape? Or the girl who may or may not be lying about it? Does that make all of Duke Men's Athletics a bunch of pigs, or every Lady Blue Devil a liar? No, it doesn't; the same way Longhorns who make tasteless jokes about the Bonfire tragedy don't make all Longhorns a bunch of trashy idiots. The Corps fought in numerous wars, served honorably, and continued a revered tradition at Texas A&M. Sure, sure; you respect West Point Cadets and students from the Naval Academy. That's great. It is purely and simply your prejudice against A&M that leads you to make disrespectful comments about an honorable system.
Aggies take care of their own, no matter where they are anywhere in the world. Texas Exes....please. When you come to A&M, you become an Aggie for life. You are never an ex.
The rivalry is a sporting thing that both sides enjoy, whether they choose to admit to it or not. I will argue with you all day long that Texas A&M is the greatest school in the world. They teach you more than academics - it's a spirit you'll never understand from the outside. They teach you respect, integrity, honor, character building, and PRIDE. Just try to stop us, you'll fail.

My name is Kayla Briel, I'm a freshman telecommunication media studies major (and member of the multiple-national champion equestrian team) from Coppell, Texas, and I am THE LOUDEST and THE PROUDEST member of the fighting Texas Aggie class of 2015.

And by the way, how was that bowl game of yours last year? Come on, even cereal makes it to the bowl.

I have visited both campuses. Honestly, I've never met a genuinely nice Longhorn. Period. For those of you that don't know the TU tradition, UT calls themselves "THE University of Texas". So we correct y'all and say you're a texas university. We don't say it to be funny. We say it to correct y'all. And what is a Longhorn useful for anyways? Did you know you can't even eat them? They are worthless! They're not even pretty to look at!! A&M is an all around better school. Number one friendliest campus in the nation for several years. UT can't say that. A&M has set world records, put themselves in the history books with medical breakthroughs (like Dolly), and topped the lists in science. Fish camp is for helping freshman adjust to college life before we get to college station, don't flatter yourselves. Yes, we trash Longhorns, but every Longhorn I have ever met has openly trashed Aggies and I took it with grace. Yes, there are annoying aggies but there are also douchebag longhorns. Aggies are the friendlier people. It's just natural that way.

So Jim Rome..... STFU and grow a pair!

I have a few things to say about this. I am attending A&M this fall. No, it was not my first choice school. Yes, I in fact used to be a die-hard Longhorn fan. But I stopped caring about the football and the rivalry started caring about what was best for me and my education. All of this useless bashing shows nothing but ignorance.
I chose A&M because of the networking and the opportunities you come in and leave with, for the community and connection among students. That community, and the spirit in it, goes far beyond trying to BTHO of UT. We have spirit in us to make the best of our lives and keep our eyes ahead on the future of our education, careers, and personal investments, as well. You want to rag on our traditions because they don't make sense to you? How is that any different from ragging on another culture's traditions? Or a religion? But you would think before doing that, wouldn't you? The traditions are something of value to our students, and something that we cherish. If they seem absurd to you, fine. We aren't asking you to understand.
Fish Camp is about connecting with fellow students and learning the ropes, just like any other orientation would be at ANY other school. The same goes for Gig 'Em Week. It helps nervous freshmen feel better about transitioning from high school to college and taking on an entirely new way of life.
Don't ever, EVER insult the musical talents of a band that has players from across the nation and of all ranges of musical ability. If you have never been involved with a marching band, you have absolutely NO place to talk about what goes on. That is a world all of its own, and something that many people take pride in.
As far as the town of College Station, it is home to all of us, no matter what the status may be. We're allowed to take pride in the place we live. Ok, I won't deny that Austin was recently named the best place to live because of the growing economy, culture, educational and professional wealth that is erupting from it. So what? Get off your high horse. There's no need to rub that wealth in the faces of any and all who do not reside there. Oh, what's that? You're only rubbing it in OUR faces? Hmm. Seems like you want to start a pissing match, yourself.

We all have reasons to love what we do, and we all have the right to brag a little about the things we're proud of. But there's a limit for everything, and when the line is crossed into very crudely and unprofessionally presenting hateful views toward others, even in general cases, it just comes across as belligerence. You're assigning a very negative connotation to anyone and everyone that calls themselves an "Aggie". So what happens when you meet someone that doesn't fit any of the awful stereotypes you named? What happens when (God forbid) you meet someone that is proud to be an Aggie and happens to be an intelligent, well-rounded, well-mannered individual who is as prepared as any for the professional and social world? At the very least, you should be ashamed that you are bashing people for taking pride in the things that they do.I know you merely re-posted this, but that action alone shows that you agree with what has been said. Therefore you are as much at fault as the original author.

I know, however, that none of my words will matter in the least, and that I will only be seen as an arrogant, whooping, tongue-sucking, out-of-control country bumpkin that doesn't have a chance in life because I'm proud to call A&M my school and my home, instead of the academically focused, down-to-earth, levelheaded, well-mannered young lady with a wealth of tasteful interests, a high work ethic, and a goal to excel in all that I do. But that's ok. You keep on keepin' on with the things that make you happy, and I'll carry on with my own.

Both schools suck big balls. I will say though people who go to A&M are more annoying. Just reading through comments on Facebook on gamedays, it is easy to tell. All my friends that go to A&M all put
Whoop! Btho ( whoever opponent is) now that's fine. You're entitled to do so. No longhorn fans criticize them for putting that but if a longhorn fan puts hook em on their profile, you will see 4 or 5 aggress put cments about how tu sucks and such. That's what is annoying. That's why I have no respect for them.

No longhorn fans criticize them for putting that but if a longhorn fan puts hook em on their profile, you will see 4 or 5 aggress put cments about how tu sucks and such. That’s what is annoying. That’s why I have no respect for them.

Ok that
