It’s been almost two weeks since my SXSW experience and I’m still amped from it. It was definitely a who’s who in social media and if you weren’t there…I didn’t see you.
I had great conversations with folks from JetBlue, Southwest Airlines, Disney, Nascar, author Debbie Weil, analyst Jeremiah Owyang, and pros like Chris Brogan, David Armano, Mark Collier, Tim Hayden and the Dell social media folks. I even caught up with PR faculty and students from Texas State, my Alma mater.
The presentations were great, but the scene in the halls in between session was awesome. I learned a lot and validated ongoing strategy. There were a ton of smart people there and I can’t wait to go back next year.
I think the show was great for one reason: visitors were ready for better times. Attendees could feel that social media is ready to go mainstream and they were soaking it all up. The show was inspiring, the people were motivating.
Hell, I was even asked by Bryan Person from @liveworld to say some words about the Citizenship blog.
The show established itself as the premier conference in the tech/social/marketing world. See you next year.

Matt:
Thrilled that you enjoyed your “homecoming.” I had a great time at SXSW this year as well. This was my first time, and I loved the energy and enthusiasm that carried on for days. Chatting with smart, passionate people still has me “amped,” too.
Thanks for taking some time to chat about the FedEx Citizenship Blog. It was good to hear you connect the efforts back to business goals.
